Fostering is an important step on a pet’s journey to their forever home. A home environment is best for their health and wellbeing. Fostering cats and dogs allows them to thrive in a home environment and practice forming bonds with their caregivers. For those pets who have been waiting longer for adoption, foster caregivers can help reassure adopters that these pets are a good fit for their home and speak to the type of home or family that would be the best match for the pet. We serve the area of Southern Utah and are looking for fosters. Join the Jackson Day Foundation by filling out our foster application and emailing it to info@jacksondayfoundation.org. FAQs

  • Our focus is Hurricane Valley and the greater St. George area. In special circumstances we may adopt out beyond these areas. If an animal requires any medical follow-up after adoption, they must stay local until their treatment plan is completed.

  • JDAR acquires animals from our local shelters when they start to become overcrowded, have an animal that requires medical care they cannot provide and when they need a rescue to care for kittens which are especially time and resource intensive. Under certain circumstances we will take in owner surrenders. Please contact us to discuss your situation. We ask for a minimum donation of $50 to take the animal into our care.

  • No, all strays need to be taken to your municipal shelters to give their owners a chance to claim them. If they are unclaimed, then they will be placed for adoption or taken in by a local rescue.

  • All our animals are spayed / neutered, microchipped and vaccinated as appropriate for age. In addition they have been vetted as needed. Our adoption fees for cats / kittens range from $65 to $115 and for dogs / puppies $75 to $300. We do offer discounts for multiple animals.

  • We strive to complete the adoption process within 1-2 days. This will depend on the completeness of your application and our ability to reach your references.

  • JDAR is a unique foster-based animal rescue. Our adoptable cats are available to visit at PetSmart in St. George once you have completed an on-line application. For dogs, we will arrange a “meet and greet” location once you have completed an on-line application.

  • We are always looking for compassionate, dedicated animal lovers to help us achieve our goal of placing unwanted and neglected animals into their forever homes!   • The Humane Society of Utah, St. George Clinic provides low cost spay/neutering and vaccinations for our community. All our animals are spayed / neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption.
